Face Of The Day #2

I'm coming right at you with another face of the day. This makeup look is what I wear near enough everyday.

I start with foundation. On this day I decided to use a sample of Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation and the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. I also dabbed a little bit of the Rimmel Wake Me Up liquid highlighter along the tops of my cheeks.

Next I moved onto eyes. I used the Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr in on and on bronze all over my lid as a primer. Over the top of that, I patted on Mac's All That Glitters eyeshadow to keep it in place. For my eyeliner, I chose to use Maybellines Master Precise. I just drew a thin line across my upper lash line.

For blush I used the shade from the Sleek Face Form palette in light, which I'm pretty sure is called rose gold. I then bronzed up my face using the Boujour chocolate bronzer.

Finally, I filled in my brows using the Sleek brow kit and lined my water line using the Rimmel Scandleyes eyeliner before applying the Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara which I didn't get to take a photo of because I'm an idiot.

2 Ingredient Vegan Chocolate Bark

I've never been a great cook. Try as I might, everything I attempt to create in the kitchen fails so something quick with minimal ingredients is perfect. This pomegranate chocolate bark only has two ingredients and it can be tailored to your taste buds, depending on what you like.

Ingredients -
  • 2 - 4 bars dark chocolate (if you're vegan, make sure the chocolate you get doesn't have milk in it)
  • 1 pomegranate
Equipment -
  • Large Bowl
  • Small Bowl
  • Small saucepan
  •  2 wooden spoons
  •  Baking tray

Firstly you want to start by tapping around the outside the pomegranate. Do this quite hard as it makes it easier to get the seeds out.

You then need to fill a large bowl with water and put the pomegranate inside it.  Cut along the ridges of the pomegranate (you should be able to feel them) and pull it open. The seeds should fall out and sink to the bottom whilst the rest of the inside floats.

Put the pomegranates into a bowl and put them to the side of a minute. You now need to put some water in a saucepan and put it on a high heat to boil. Meanwhile, break your dark chocolate up and put it into a class bowl.

Once your water is boiling, put the bowl with chocolate in on top of the saucepan. The heat from the water will melt the chocolate.

Whilst you're waiting for the chocolate to melt, line your baking tray with grease-proof paper or tin foil. Then sprinkle the pomegranate seeds over the tray. Add as many or as little as you like, depending on your preference.

Once your chocolate is fully melted and smooth, take it off the heat. Allow the bowl to cool for a few seconds so as not to burn yourself.

You now need to pour the melted chocolate over the pomegranate seeds on the baking tray. Cover it as much as your can.

Once you have poured all your chocolate on, smooth it over the entire baking tray with the back of a wooden spoon. Try to get this as smooth as possible.

Once you've smoothed it over, pop the baking tray in the freezer for 10 - 20 minutes.

Take it out the freezer once the chocolate has cooled and hardened.

This is the fun part - take the chocolate out of the baking tray and smash it! Break into as many pieces as you like - big or small. Then put them on a plate and serve (or just eat it all to yourself)!

Dear February

Dear February,

You're always a weird one for me. When you came around last year, you took one of the people who meant the most to me and once again you've done the same. In the 28 days that you were here, you took many of my friends' loved ones, but you also bought many of them joy.

I don't think I'll ever quite understand you February... You are a time of both joy and sadness for many. Many people are lost within your time here, but many lives are gained and that's hard for me to wrap my head around.

You were the month in which my mum and one of my best friends were born, and for that I cannot thank you enough as they are the people who keep me going - even when you bring me some of the worst times.

I can't quite decide whether I like you or not, February. You've brought me, along with many others, such pain in your previous visits, yet you've also brought us some of the best times. I know that I can do nothing to stop you from coming around again next year, I can just hope you bring more good than bad with you next year.

See you next year,
Love,

Face Of The Day

I decided to focus this make up look on the lips. It's important to either focus on the eyes or the lips when going for an everyday look. However, if you're having a night out, I say go all out and do both!
I was doing my staple everyday makeup and decided to pair it with a dark red lip. Of course, I wanted to share the look with you.

Obviously, I started off with primer. I'm currently using the Maybelline 'baby skin' instant pore eraser. I've only recently started using primers religiously and so I'm new to the world of longer lasting makeup (recommendations are more than welcome!). I decided to pick this one up as I heard good things about it and I'm really liking it - I think I'm going to try the Benefit porefessional next. I then buffed the much loved Rimmel 'wake me up' into my skin. I'm sure you've heard many things about this foundation as everyone and their mum uses it so I won't bore you with how amazing it is! Next, I used the yellow-toned side of the Soap&Glory 'kick ass' concealer on any blemishes and the pink-toned side under my eyes. The pink side is a lot creamier than the yellow side and it definitely hides those under-eye bags.

I then filled my eyebrows in using this eyebrow kit from Sleek. I've been using this forever and I'm too scared to try anything else because I looooove it. Then I used the shade 'foxy' from the Naked Basics palette from Urban Decay all over my lid. I put the shade 'naked 2' through my crease and then used the shade 'faint' to darken it up a bit.

Next I used Benefits 'hoola' bronzer to contour my cheek bones. I took what was left on the brush around my face up to my temples and down my neck.

To line my eyes and create a wing I used the Maybelline gel liner. I've spoken about this liner before because it's my staple. For mascara I used the Maybelline 'the colossal volum' express' in the smokey eyes version. I should probably throw this away now because I've had it for quite a while but shhh.

Finally, for my lips I used everyone's favourite - Rimmel's Kate lipstick in 107. Just like everyone else, I am totally in love with this lipstick and it's probably one of my most worn.

What's your favourite lipstick?
