Dear April

Dear April,

I know I say this every month, but how have you come and gone so quickly?
You've been a time of celebration, whether that be for birth or death. I want to thank you for bringing so many people together in your time here, it was nice to meet both those who I haven't seen in a while and those I've never met.

I know you have brought a lot of people joy in your limited days here, and for that reason I will focus on the positives as apose to the negatives.
On the whole, I've been quite happy whilst you've been here, March, and I wish you could stick around for a little while longer. You've brought with you many happy days, the sort that I will cherish forever.

I know our time is limited, so I won't keep you for much longer, but I thank you for helping me adopt a much more positive mindset in your days here, and I hope I will continue to be at peace with life throughout May. My wish for the next 31 days is that people can see the beauty in being happy and that they will take steps towards being at peace with themselves.

Until next year, goodbye April.

5 Things To Watch On Netflix

Source

Like many people nowadays, I am a massive advocate of Netflix. I much prefer watching series as apose to films due to the fact that I can properly get into them and they're not over too quickly! So, with that said, I thought I'd share my top 5 Netflix picks. I'm the worst person at describing TV shows, so bare with me!

1 - Once Upon A Time.

I absolutely adore this series. The best way I can think to describe it is fairy tales set in a modern day world due to a curse. It may not sound like your cup of tea but I highly recommend you check it out, even my boyfriend loves it! I have to admit it - I watched the entirety of this programme in less than two weeks... Oops!

2 - Pretty Little Liars.

How could I write a blog post about Netflix without mentioning Pretty Little Liars?! Nearly everyone I know has watched this show and all I've heard is positive reviews. It's kind of a a mystery/thriller which includes a group of girls who have a multitude of weird and scary things happen to them. Just a little side note, the first season is a bit crap, but after that it's so intense, you won't be able to stop watching.

3 - The Returned.

This is quite a new series and a new episode is currently being uploaded every Tuesday. This show is basically about people who show up at their homes after being dead for many years, without any knowledge of their death. It's quite an eerie series, but I was hooked after the first episode and whilst it's not my normal 'girly' TV programme, I think a lot of people would definitely enjoy it.

4 - Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

I wasn't sure about this programme when I first started watching it, but after a few episodes I was obbsessed and somehow managed to watch the entire first season in less than 24 hours. I have a problem. There is currently only one season avaliable on Netflix, but I'm hoping for more! This series is about a group of women rescued from an underground cult and it follows Kimmy as she discovers the wonders of New York City.

5 - Breaking Bad.

Everyone and their dog seems to have watched Breaking Bad, but if you haven't then it's a must. I admit that I was unsure about starting to watch this programme as I didn't really think it was my thing but oh how I was wrong. It's about a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with terminal cancer and therefore decides to produce crystal meth with an ex-student in order to secure his family's future. Although this may not seem like the type of thing you'd be into, I suggest you give it a go because you'll probably be suprised!

I'm currently watching Grimm on Netflix, have any of you watched it?
What are your top Netflix picks? Let me know!

Thanks for reading!

The Skin Care Edit

Since around the age of 9 I've had a lot of trouble with my skin. I started getting acne and it's never really cleared up. However, recently I started with a proper skin care routine and it's made a massive difference! I honestly couldn't be happier. I thought I'd share with you how I cleared my skin up/my skincare routine.

I'll start of by telling you what skin type I have. My skin is a little bit odd - the majority of the time it's pretty normal, whilst being a little bit oily on the t-zone. Occasionaly I get some dry patches however.
I start off my removing my makeup with a cleanser. If my skin is having a dry day, then I'll tend to use the No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Oil in order to add a bit my oil back into my skin. If my skin is having a normal/oily day I'll use the No7 Soft & Soothed Gentle Cleanser. I rub the cleanser into my skin and gently over my eyes to remove all the makeup. If I've been wearing alot of makeup that day, I'll double cleanse to make sure it's all off. Once it's rubbed into my skin, I wash it off using a flannel and warm water.

I then tone my face to remove any last traces of makeup. I soak a cotton pad in the No7 Soft & Soothed Gentle Toner and wipe it over my face.

If I've been having a bad skin day I'll use a face mask. My favourites are Lush's Mask Of Magnaminty and Neutrogena's Visibly Clear 2-in-1. I smooth which ever one I choose onto my face and leave it for about 15 minutes. I do skipped this step most the time.

I then apply the Soap&Glory Scrub Your Nose In It onto my nose and then scrub it off in order to exfoliate.

I'll then use either the L'oreal Rebalancing Extraordinary Facial Oil or the Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser to hydrate my skin. I'll use the oil if I'm having a dry skin day and the moisturiser if I'm having a normal skin day.

Finally,

You're Probably A Feminist

The sociological theory on feminism is the idea that men oppress women. To me, I personally believe that this is not what feminism is about. I believe it to be a social movement dedicated to gaining equality for both sexes.

Patriarchy the ideology that males are dominant, which is something that I believe feminists are fighting against. If we look back to the sociological theory towards feminism, we are given the impression that women hate men. This is not the case; feminists hate patriarchy.

The idea that females are naturally better carers for children than males is created by patriarchy - feminists do not want men to lose custody of their children due to this assumption. The idea that men should pay for dinner is part of patriarchy, when in fact most women would be perfectly happy to pay for the meal or go halves.

I think what people need to realise is that, although we are socialised by the media to believe that feminists hate men, the meaning of 'feminisim' has changed. Now days, feminists are much more focused on obtaining gender equality, rather than just women's rights (although it's still a massive issue that we shouldn't forget about). The fact of the matter is, deep down, the vast majority hate patriarchy, not men.

I am a feminist. When I say this however, I mean it in the terms of gaining gender equality for both males and females.
If you want men to have an equal chance to gaining custody of their children compared to women, then feminists are helping you. If you want gender equality, then you are a feminist.

Dear March

Dear March,

Haven't you come and gone quick? Spring is supposedly upon us and we're quarter way through 2015 already... I'm not quite sure how that's happened. I've always seen you as quite a special span, for no reason in particular, you were just of some importance to me. I wish you could've stayed that way.

You've been a strange 31 days, March. Until of recent, you were pretty uneventful, boring even. But it was silly of me to believe that you would just come and go without throwing me any hurdles.

March, you have brought with you a great deal of stress this year, which in turn has forced it's own struggles on me. However, it seems that my worry ridden mind just wasn't enough for you, and so similarly to your sibling, February, you also took with you one of my family members.

I've come to the conclusion that I don't much like you or February, but I'm sure that won't stop you form visiting again next year.

Until next year,
